The Sportsfest!

By the title of this post you would have probably guessed that this weeks post is going to be about the Wellington Regional Sportsfest that the year 7s and 8s attended.

The sport that I chose to play for the day was netball. I had to play for the netball team that I don't normally play with for the day as they had a few people missing. Anyway we got to the courts and started to practice as our game wasn't for another hour. We had to play five 20 minute games in total, unfortunately we lost 4 and only won one game. The other teams were extremely competitive and practically all of them were much taller and bulkier ( Is bulkier even a word?) Some of the teams we played had really bad sportsmanship and were really rude. One time I had a really big partner, she shot for the goal and missed and I jumped for the rebounds. As my hands grasped the ball the large girl rammed into my back causing me to fall forward, she then tousled with me for the ball as I was still holding onto it. Luckily she was called for obstruction and I got the ball (served her right!)

I think the sportsfest was a new experience for me as I had to adapt quickly to play with a team that have been practicing together for a while. I did enjoy myself but at some times I got the feeling that certain people didn't want me on the team and didn't really respect that I was the one that had stepped forward to help them out.

Altogether I think the sportsfest was a bit up and down but it was a good experience for me.

I hope you enjoyed this weeks blog post about the sportsfest!
