Current Favourite.....

For this weeks post I can write about of on my current favorite books, movies or T.V shows. I haven't been to see any movies lately, and there are no new T.V shows that I'm intrigued about at the moment so I guess I'll write about...Books! So recently I purchased a book that includes six different stories by James Herriot. The first one that I am reading is called " If only they could talk". If only they could talk and the rest of the James Herriot books are all about James Herriot and his life as a Vet. The first book is about when Herriot is only a young vet trying to prove himself but as books go on it shows him becoming more and more experienced as a vet. I really like these books mainly because I want to be a vet and it's interesting to read about all the high points and low points from a vets point of view ( I'm not sure if that makes sense but you know what I mean). Herriots books got so popular they were even made into a T.V series.

So if any of you reading this love animals I would definitely recommend the James Herriot books :) I hope you all enjoyed reading this post, see you next week.

My Future Jobs....

Aloha!
This weeks blog post is going to be about what jobs I would like to have when I'm older. Here's the first one-
A Vet
But I don't want to be just any vet, I want to be a zoo vet. Sure, I guess spending all day with cats and dogs would be fun but imagine walking into work everyday and getting face to face with a tiger.  But I have heard that it is quite difficult to become a vet. According to the internet I would need to get almost perfect marks in biology and physics. Then I would have to study at university for 7 years, and even then I might still not be qualified enough!
An Archaeologist
If I didn't become a vet I think an archaeology would be a cool occupation. I enjoy history and wouldn't it be awesome to dig up some treasured artifact that's thousands of years old. To be an archaeologist I would need to excel in writing and english. I would also have to be good at foreign languages as I would need to travel around the world a lot.  In university I would probably have to take anthropology as a major and after that I would have to get lots of little archaeology jobs to become an experienced archaeologist.
A Journalist
The last job that I would like to be is a journalist. I would get to travel around the world and of course I would be onto all the latest gossip. I think that the subjects that I would choose would really depend on what kind of journalist I want to be and I haven't really thought about that yet. But I think that I would definitely have to take media studies/media ethics.

I guess that's everything! I hope you enjoyed reading about what I want to do when I'm older!

Why/What do you guys want to be when your older?

Holidays are over!

*sigh* the holidays are over, but I guess the point of this post isn't to focus on the fact that those two glorious weeks are over but to focus on the awesome things that I did in the holidays.

So for the first week of the holidays Caoimhe and I were invited to stay with Aisling and Francesca at this little place south east of Gisbourne called Mahia. So we turned up at their house on Sunday with all our bags but there was a bit of a drama. Paddy (their dog) had apparently eaten rat poison. So we had to wait a little longer to get going because Paddy was at the vet. We were told by the vet that needed to rest for a couple of days and that he probably shouldn't be going on a 8 hour car ride that day, but we decided to go anyway (because we're rebels :). I actually found that the car ride went really quickly because everyone was being really hilarious and everyone was laughing.

Since we were in Mahia for a whole week this post would probably end up being 10 pages long if I described every single detail so I am just going to pinpoint a few of my favourite memories. There are so many beaches in Mahia and each one is very different. One of my favourites was Golden beach. It gets the name because the sand is so soft and golden. We had so much fun paddling in the water, trying (and failing) to do gymnastics on the sand and playing with Paddy and Tui (Tui is a very excitable jack Russell that belongs to Francesca and Aisling's auntie. Another one of my favourite beaches was Baby Pi (pronounced "pea", not "pie".) We had lots of funny moments there, like when I tried to slowly pick up a little, tiny fish and just as I was about to lift it out of the water it squirmed out of my hand, I squealed which made Caoimhe, Francesca and Aisling all scream as well. Another funny moment was when Caoimhe who was right down the beach screamed "GUYS I FOUND A BABY OCTOPUS", We all started to sprint down the beach but all ended up falling on the slippery rocks crushing a few hermit crabs as we fell into the rockpools. We never saw that baby octopus ever again. :(

As well as going to the beach a lot we did do other thing as well. One day we climed up Mokotahi hill to watch the sunset over the water. It was all so peaceful until a man came up and started praying, Paddy ran up to him and interrupted his praying by barking madly at the poor guy.  By then we thought it would be better to go home. We also did a lot of bike riding while we were there. One time we were biking back from a beach and Francesca's gear slipped off and we couldn't get it back on. Francesca volunteered to walk back the rest of the way so we kindly ditched her. But as she was walking creepy Bob from the store came along on his tractor and asked if Francesca wanted a ride. Franky politely declined then broke into a run with her broken bike.

Wow! That was a much longer post than I intended! But if you actually read through this post I hope you enjoyed reading about my time in Mahia!
