Wooo year 8 next year!
Christmas is only 1 month away which must mean that school is ending soon! I am so glad that year seven is almost over as this year has been a bit up and down for me. I think I can tell that year 8 is going to be an awesome year. In year 8 I will get to sit on the chairs at assembly, hopefully ( fingers crossed) that I get to be a house captain, go to camp and crush those new year sevens at dodgeball! Things that could be challenging next year would probably be all the responsibility's! I'm not saying that I'm not a responsible person, but I just think that in year 8 you're the oldest kids in school and people expect you to do a lot of things. Things that I am going to try achieve next year is definitely getting better at dodgeball, over the year I have gotten much better at dodgeball and I can actually catch balls now. I think I will have much more confidence next year in dodgeball. I am really looking forward to year 8 I have a feeling that things are definitely going to get brighter! :)

My speech is over!!!!!
My legs were shaking as I walked up to the front of the class. My hands desperately clutched my cue cards. I stood in front of everyone and waited for the go. Yes, speeches are over! All those practices in front of your parents and teddy bears are finally over! My speech was about the artist Edgar Degas and my, I guess connection to him. I wasn't actually to nervous about actually saying the speech, it was the dance moves that worried me. You might think that everyone can do a decent leap in front of people but doing pirouettes in school shoes is another story. For those who didn't know a pirouette is basically spinning around on one leg while you are on your tip toes. I decided to practice at home in my school shoes and realized that the sometimes grip to the floor and leave you in one place. I had to put more power and force into the pirouette which is normally a big no in ballet, when doing a pirouette you're meant to try put as little effort as possible. While doing my speech today the ballet moves went ok! My french accent went alright as well I think, I didn't want to mess this up considering that Calvin is in our class! :) Everyone else did a great job as well I especially liked Rebecca's, JMK's, Catherine's, Katerina's, Jessica's and Ben's. I'm quite glad that speeches are over and good luck to everyone who does get in for the final! :)

Amazing Gracie
One of the books that I have read lately is called Amazing Gracie. Amazing Gracie is a true story about a man named Dan. Dan and his wife own a bakery called the three dogs bakery. They named the bakery after their 3 dogs Sarah, Lottie and Blue. Dans favorite dog is Blue but Blue sadly dies. Dans wife Ann takes in a new dog called Merlin. Ann starts to spend all her time with Merlin and she becomes a bit obsessed. This makes Dan depressed because he hates the thought of replacing Blue. Suddenly the breeder that they got Merlin from says that they have a bit of a problem, of course Ann makes Dan go because it has to do with Merlin. The problem that the breeder has is a 8 week old puppy who is deaf and an albino. The dog is going to be put down the next day so Dan and Ann take her in. Dan names the puppy Grace. The rest of the book is mainly about dealing with the problems Gracie causes, some of the problems even make her famous! Amazing Gracie is a great book, it may sound a bit like a little girls book to some people but it actually is a amazing and inspiring story.

My speech!
I'm really excited for the speech competition, I won't tell you the topic because it's a surprise!!!! I know my topic really well so It wasn't too difficult writing it. I feel pretty confident with my speech as I have been doing speech and drama for almost 6 years. I don't really get nervous standing in front of large groups of people. I want to try use the stage more because it sort of ties in with my topic. I will try to use much more gestures and movement. I really hope the speech competition goes well and I really hope I get in!
