Galapagos Islands, Adaptation And Evolution
Recently we have been learning about animal Adaptation and Evolution. I had no idea that there were so many animals that had adapted so dramatically. My favourite animal that we looked at was probably the Rosy Lipped Bat Fish. I thought that it was pretty cool because it has adapted to move it's pelvic and pectoral fins so it looks like it is walking along the sea floor (plus it also looks a lot like one of my favourite youtubers.) I would have liked to learn more about other animals in different countries adapting, not just the Galapagos. I would have also liked to learn a bit about human evolution. Topics that I would like to learn more about would be Pompeii and Ancient Rome.
Adaptation was a very interesting topic that I learned a lot from.

Librarian, First Aid, House Captain....
In year 7 and 8 we are given more responsibilities. I applied for lots of jobs like House Captain, Librarian, First Aid and Sports Monitor. Unfortunately there were a lot of year 7s coming in so most people only got one or two jobs. I was chosen for House Captain and Librarian. I really like being a House Captain, I was actually a bit surprised that I was chosen as there were so many other people who would have made awesome House Captains. I get to help organise big school events and obviously I get to run my house- Brigidine with my co-captain Catherine. One of the biggest thrills of being a House Captain is the feeling of the little kids looking up to you and asking you for advice, it makes you feel more confident and better about yourself.
I was chosen to be a Librarian last year and I really enjoyed it. I was happy to know that I was chosen again this year. Librarian is a really cool job because you get to learn about the Dewey Decimal System and all the different types of books (plus you get first dibs on the new arrivals). I really like being a librarian as you learn lots of new things every time you go to the library. It's cool to help out the younger kids when they can't find a book or when they want to issue one. I definitely recommend trying out for Librarian or House Captain, you learn a lot and it is lots of fun.

Money, Money, Money
On Wednesday a man from ASB bank came to talk to us about money, saving, taxes and things like that. We learnt about ways to earn money and what you should do with it. I thought the lesson was worthwhile because I learnt so many new things from it. I'm the sort of person who try's to save up money but always just spends it on things that don't leave me with that much money left. I could probably improve my money management by trying to save rather than spend.
Something I have wanted for a while now is a new phone. I have a pink brick phone that for some reason won't let me call or text even when I have credit. I know an iphone is waaaaaayyy out of my price range but I did see a couple of touch screen Samsung phones that I like. I am still about $200 short so I am going to try save up my money (for real) this time. My money related goal for this year will be to try save up as much as I can without blowing it when I see that really cool life sized lion toy.

The mission fair
My last mission fair stall was a huge success as we raised over 2000 dollars. I think my groups stall went really well. One of the things I enjoyed most about the day was actually after the fair was. We still had some chocolate left over from one of our games- guess that chocolate. A group of friends and I went down to the little dark room downstairs and tried to eat a whole piece of the really sour chocolate without spitting it out or making a face.
The thing that I made for my stall was bracelets made out of thread. I was really happy that they all sold out because it took a really long time to make them. Other people in our group also sold donuts, waffles and lots of other fun things. I was really happy with how our mission fair stall went but if I had to do it again I would probably not do as many activities because it did get a bit complicated. The mission fair went really well and it was good the money would go to countries in need.
