Chasing The Valley- Skyfire

"I have to use my proclivity", I think. I reach out for that part of my mind that calls to the night. And ever so gently, the night calls back". That quote is from the last book in the chasing the valley trilogy- Skyfire. Chasing the valley is a trilogy about a girl named Danika who escapes from her heavily guarded city with a group of refugees. They are trying to reach a place called the magnetic valley. A place where everything is peaceful and no one can hurt them. Skyfire is about the crew reaching the magnetic valley and realising that it is not as they expected.

There is a sense of magic in the books. When you turn 18 you reveal the tattoo on the back of your neck, that tattoo is called a proclivity. A proclivity is sort of a power that you can control, some proclivities are earth, beast, night, air and dawn.  I liked the book as there is a lot of intensity and emotions. Sometimes you feel happy about something that has happened then suddenly you feel like crying. My favorite character is a tie between two of the kids in the refugee group- Teddy and Maisy. Teddy is really funny and always making a joke out of things even if it isn't the right time. Maisy is quite quiet but comes out of her shell as a completely different person than you think she is. I would recommend the Chasing the valley series to people ages 11 to 14. Chasing the valley is one of my favorite series that I would read again and again.
